Shuttles for Team Akina

Since the Li Ning (Light Blue) were not up to Akina's standards. I've chosen RCL (Blue Green) Since our group is not so happy in paying RM4 for a game, decided to down grade the shuttles back to the ordinary type. Shuttles has been passed to Ah Beh for your pleasure this coming Thursday.

Ah Beh also purchased a new Yonex Bag. The same one as mine for only RM120. I think its an excellent buy. Please let me know what you guys think about the shuttle this time. thanks

Upseting Month

Last weeks turn out was really unexceptable. I just got back from Miri and to my dismay, I only see 6 players playing in Team Akina's court. If this is going to be the attitude of our team, then, I really dont see a future for us. The team Captain seems to be losing hope already. I dont blame him cause he is already trying his best but the players still dont want to show up.

The team shirts will be really in the next week or so and i'm starting to worry if anyone would actually wear them or even purchase them. Wee need to do sometihng so that we will still have a team next year........... The situation is getting serious now.

Team Akina's T-Shirt

I'm going ahead on the plane to make shirts for the team. After 2 member comments on the shirt, we have decided to chose red as the team colour for 2009. Only the Captain will have the privilege to wear the Platinum colour shirt. The cost at the moment for the shirts is RM34.00. The brand Pro Ace and there will be the teams name on it. According to the supplier, it will take a month for him to supply us with 10 shirts. The total cost will not be more then RM50.00. I'm not sure if 10 pcs is enough. I'm afraid that some might not be able to afford it in these troubled times. Anyway, i do have a rough idea on who wants the shirts already and I'll list down their names below.

1) Ah Ngen x 1 (XL)
2) Ah Cheng x 1 (L)
3) The Yap Brothers x 2 (M)
4) Ah How x 1 (M)
5) Ah Beh x 1 (XL)
6) Ah Pui x 1 (XL)
7) Ah Hui x 1 (XL)
8) Yen Chiang x 1 (L)
9) Myself x 1 (XL)

Any inquiries please get back to me as soon as possible. The shirts are on their way.....................

19th Feb 2009, Thursday

After declaring a new captain, the team spirit is at an all time high. Turn out today was very good with a few one time off players attending. There were at least 10 of us today all in high spirits as usual.

The Yonex shuttles turn out to be a hit with the team. No one had a bad comment to say of the new shuttles. I really wished that I have bought more of it. Anyway, the 2 tubes would last us a month, so enjoy while we can ; )

Today's matches were pretty interesting. We had KS Lim & Yee Chiang vs Yap and Captain. Captain lost but it was close. Ah How and myself when up against Alex and Ah Beh (SH Lee) Ah Beh was pretty determined with constant challenges blurted out to Ah How. In the end Ah How and Myself won both games due to Ah Beh running out of steam and Alex with his inconsistency.
15-8 and 15-13 was the final score.

Ah Ngen and Ah Tiong's partnership was not too good today, they went down to the Yap twins tamely. I really cannot recall the score. The 1st game was a slaughter house. I was paired up with short Put gold medalist Yen Nam. Nice chap and all but can't play badminton to save his life : ) Our opponents were Ah Ngen and Yap 1. Need not say we got torched 8-15. We all split the cost of the shuttle.

In the future I hope the turn out will stay this healthy for a while. Good Luck to the new Captain and hope he brings us all to new heights. Long live team Akina!!!!

Celebration is Over back to more Badminton.

Sorry for not posting anything since last year. Team Akina has not been in very good shape at all since a few months ago. I'm pleased to inform everyone that as of Feb 2009, our new elected Captain is none other then Ah Teong.

Captain Ah Cheng has decided to "Letak Jawatan" due to his lack of interest in the game of late. Lucky for us the accounts are still in the green. At one glance, I think I saw something like RM200++. Very healthy indeed. I'm not sure the new "Cheng Hu" will bring good or bad to the team, only time will tell. But Ah Teong has shown his keenness in the game by showing up for almost every session that we have. So in my personnel opinion, he would be a good captain, a few things would have to change but he's a person that is all ears for ideas. I wish him all the best and hope he brings the team to new heights.

On a totally different subject, I have managed to obtain some Yonex shuttles for the team to enjoy at a reasonable price. AS-30 for less then RM60.00. They are usually sold at RM68 but got discount now so decided to get 2 doz. I purchased 2 different speed 2 and 3. I may not be able to contribute much to the team but i hope by making small things like this would make the Team enjoy the game better.

Team Akina is Slowly Fading Away.

Its a sad time for Team Akina. I feel that time is almost up for our team already. From a peak of over 15 players a few years back and now only 4 or 5 players left. Interest in the game is just not there anymore or our team members has just more important things to do every Thursday.

Moral of the team is also very low and our quality is slowly slipping week after week. Very soon we wont have much of a team anymore. I pray that this will never happen. Last week, Only 3 members turned out for our weekly game. need not say our Captain was not there, He has missed a lot of out games lately. Everyone is not happy about this. It might be X'mas day, but it was no excuse for team Akina teams members to miss out on out game. Luckily we has visitors from Penang to play with us and aslo a BCM employee.

I would like to thank Nicholas and Jensen for showing up last week to help us open up our eyes to see what standard we have dropped down too. I really hope we can and will recover from this. Its going to be a very hard 2009. We might lose more players due to the uncertain economic situation. sponsers are also still uncertain, only hearing romours about this and that. Maybe if the turn out is good this Thurdays, we might get some straight answers.

So I pleed to all Akina memebers do come for out Thursday. Moral is at its lowest and members that do turn up are starting to make noise regarding the rest that did not show.

Getting geared up for 2009

The new year is upon us and I think Team Akina really need a fresh new look. So I think we will start out first by issuing new T-shirts. Of cause its not free. The price for each shirt will be RM50. Any balance from that will go to the fund for numerous usage along the year.

Next I think a re-shuffling of our existing manament is required. I will try to participate more in the teams activities. It has not been a very productive 2008 for us. Since Our old Captain left, we had not done much playing. So I will try my best to revive the team to its former glory.

I plan to have more internal and external tournaments going. Find sponsers and also give up prizes for the winners. Its not going to be easy aquiring fund but I will try my very best. Its going to be hard for the 1st few months but if the teams all chips in and supports one another, I think we can really make Team Akina successful.

We also need to recruit new blood into our team. With better players then out team can improve. In my honest opinion, I think the standard of our team is dropping rapidly a need a boost. So let us all chip in and start making Team Akina a respectable team in Kulim.
